Halloween Car Accident Leaves Georgia Boy Hospitalized

According to the NSC (National Safety Council), children have a greater chance or dying in a pedestrian-car accident on Halloween than on any other day. This statistical fact makes it easy to assume that children are more likely to suffer injuries from a car accident on this day of the year as well.

A young Georgia family now understands these statistics better than many others after their young boy was struck by a van while out on Halloween. The five-year-old and his mother were both injured in the pedestrian-car accident that occurred at around 8:30 p.m. in Bogart.

The child’s mother suffered broken bones in her ankle and heel and was kept in the hospital overnight. Her son suffered worse injuries including serious road rash on his face and a fractured eye socket. He was airlifted to Egleston Hospital for Children by helicopter.

According to the mother, the family was crossing a street inside a designated crosswalk when the van suddenly appeared. She managed to push a stroller containing her 2-year-old out of the way but was unable to push the victim out of harm’s way.

The accident caused the boy to slide beneath the van where he was pinned under a tire by his arm. Fortunately, there were medics nearby who provided immediate treatment to the child. Reportedly, the driver of the van, a 47-year-old man, will likely be charged for the incident.
